Québec City, February 12, 2016 – The Québec Mining Association (QMA) is proud to recognize Richmont Mines' 35 years of existence, as a Québec company that has always placed families, health and safety, growth and teamwork at the heart of its operations.

"For 35 years now, Richmont Mines has taken a passionate interest in the development of gold potential in the Abitibi Témiscamingue region. The company has become a leader and today enjoys the respect of other players in the industry, despite its small size. This is a clear sign that Richmont Mines has forged a strong reputation over the years," says Josée Méthot, the QMA's president and CEO.

Since beginning its operations, Richmont Mines has produced over 1.6 million ounces of gold from its mines in Québec (Francoeur, Beaufor, East Amphi and Monique), Ontario (Island Gold) and Newfoundland (Hammerdown and Nugget Pond). Currently it is producing gold at the Island Gold mine in Ontario and the Beaufor mine in Québec. Solidly established in the Abitibi Témiscamingue region where it has its head office, it makes a major contribution to the area's economic prosperity.

"A workforce of 435 people help ensure Richmont Mines' success and develop its mines in a sustainable, safe and efficient way, taking community needs into account. This 35th anniversary gives us an opportunity to get to know more about this Québec success story and its projects for the future," Josée Méthot concludes.
