R&D and Innovation
The mining industry is highly interested in developing the best technologies for the development of Québec’s mineral potential, and relies heavily on R&D and innovation. To support the efforts of its members, the Québec Mining Association has established the research group SOREDEM. For a list of the projects receiving support from SOREDEM, click here.
Another initiative supported by the QMA is the consortium for applied research in mineral treatment and processing (Consortium de recherche appliquée en traitement et transformation des substances minérales, or COREM). This independent organization is the largest research centre of its type in Canada and certainly, one of the largest in the world. COREM aims to improve the competitiveness of industrial operations through the development and transfer of technological innovations consistent with sustainable development objectives. In addition to acting as a research centre for its members, COREM offers its expertise and services to the entire mining industry on a contractual basis.
