The Québec Mining Association (QMA) is a provincial organization representing metal and mineral mining companies, metallurgy companies, mining contractors and junior mining exploration companies.
The member companies represent a vast majority of Québec's industrial metal and mineral producers.
Created in 1936, the Québec Mining Association was given the mission to promote and support the development of mineral resources in Québec, as well as the development of the mining, metallurgy and related industries.
The Association also pursues the following main objectives:
- To represent the Québec mining industry towards the federal and provincial governments in the area of mining policy development;
- To support its members' efforts in the areas of environment, health and safety, technological research and development, training, exploration and others;
- To promote the mining industry's general interests;
- To provide member companies with the services they need;
- To disseminate the Québec mining industry's opinions, commitments, orientations and accomplishments among various clienteles;

The Québec Mining Industry
Québec produces some thirty mineral substances including gold, silver, copper, zinc, nickel, iron, titanium, asbestos, salt, graphite, silica, lime and niobium. Québec is also a major exploration area for diamond in Canada.
Environment and Sustainable Development
The mining industry applies responsible environmental management practices. New techniques in mining, waste disposal and recycling promote site conservation and rehabilitation in compliance with Québec's environmental standards. The mining industry also positively contributes to sustainable development by producing precious and base metals that can be recycled and benefit future generations.
Mineral Resources Development and Aboriginal Communities
Many Aboriginal groups and communities in Québec show a marked interest for the promotion of mineral resources exploration and development. The mining industry is willing to work in close cooperation with these groups to support development projects that are beneficial for the concerned parties.
The signing of partnership agreements between mining companies and several Aboriginal communities in the regions demonstrate the industry's will to promote a more meaningful participation by these communities in the development of these regions' mineral resources.
The Québec Mining Association encourages its members to develop partnership agreements between the mining industry and Aboriginal communities.
